Echocardiography / Cardiac Color Doppler
This ultrasound examination is a fundamental method in cardiology. Many essential heart functions (e.g., systolic function, heart valve operation, pressure conditions in the heart and pulmonary circulation) can be evaluated. Occasionally, contrast agents are used to clarify specific diagnostic questions.
Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE)
An ultrasound of the heart performed through the esophagus using a flexible probe introduced via the mouth. It is ideal for cases requiring exceptionally high image quality. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and intravenous administration of a short-acting sedative.
Stress Echocardiography
An ultrasound of the heart performed under pharmacological stress (using medication). It is primarily used to detect blood supply issues to the heart muscle that are not (yet) noticeable at rest. Less commonly, it assesses the progression of heart valve changes under stress by comparing the resting state with the stress state.
